My name is Shirlon! I am a mother of two with a strong passion for serving children and families who may not have the same opportunities as others. My passion and drive have stemmed from working more than 10 years in the social service field in many capacities. Understanding the importance of advocacy for families and children in the most challenging circumstances has become my life's purpose. By providing resources that can make circumstances just a bit easier, makes the time and effort all worthwhile. 

What is a Halo Babes Inc.?

Halo Babes Inc. is a 501c-3 nonprofit organization created for children and families that are in permanent managing conservatorship or foster care system. While working with Child Protective Services, I struggled with the lack of resources available to help families that have children placed with them in a permanent managing conservatorship placement. I identified challenges with children of color and the families who cared for them having the necessary tools and support system within the community to maintain the child's hair. Being a woman of color, I know the importance of maintaining your hair. I believe that our identity, in many ways, is connected to our hair. This is why Halo Babes Inc. was created, to provide a community where children in foster care are pampered, nurtured, and supported.
